Catch Up Over Coffee #1 – (New Series + Where have I been?) #ChattyBlogs

Howdy folks!

How have y’all been? It’s been a long time (well, relatively speaking) that I have showed up here on the blog, and there’s a good reason for that.

During the beginning of October – we moved to our new place – our very first home here in US (we were renting for the last 7 odd years). And as exciting as that is – all the packing, unpacking, and moving was frying my brain, which is why, as much as I wanted to blog – I had to prioritize things like food and sleep; hence the short hiatus.

As of now, my life is still pretty much in boxes, but I just couldn’t stay away any longer, so here I am.

Chatty BlogsΒ  – The What & The Why!

As you might have figured out from the title of this post – this -> Catch Up Over Coffee – is a new series that I am starting on the blog.

The reason for this series is to have a way to connect with you all on a more personal level, outside of the other, relatively content-focused posts, that go live on the blog.

During my time away from here, I sorely missed the sense of community that blogging has enabled me to have in the virtual world, so once I got back, I started reaching out to you folks – one by one. But I have come to realize (belatedly) that this way I would take forever to get to everyone, considering that now there are so many many of you folks that I have the privilege of knowing.

Moreover, my comments section (on the blog and social media) have been flooded with requests for more personal posts. Many of you have said that I rarely share much of myself, and that you would like to know more about me, along with the kind of books and movies that I like.

Honestly speaking, this kinda intimidates me – considering I am a hardcore introvert, and an aspiring hermit, but your requests, along with my recent realization that I just can’t always rely on getting to everyone one-on-one, here is this new series, which essentially is my official excuse to ramble about nothing in specific.

My wish and hope for this series

I am hoping this series helps us in getting to know each other better, because it’s not only about me – this is a two way street, so I am hoping you guys will help me out with topic ideas (yes, I am specifically speaking to the ones who badgered me about this), and also share your thoughts and experiences.

Even better – you could decide to take up this #ChattyBlogs series on your blog – that would be fantastic, because the world has enough content-focused posts, but not nearly enough chit-chat posts ( or at-least that is what I choose to believe right now ? ).

If you do take it up – tag me, and I’ll come over to visit, giggle and gossip. If there are enough of us interested – I’ll create a linky. Yep, I just suggested a linky for rambly posts. My brain must be melting, but right now – it does seem like a decent idea.

That’s all for now folks. As always, I look forward to hearing from you guys in the comments!

-Shantala

P.S. You must have noticed how un-original the title of this post is – Catch-Up Over Coffee. That’s good. Because now you know something about me – I’m like that – I rely on things that convey the meaning best – even if it means that I am the reigning Cliche queen.Β

  5. I love the title of this new series! I wrote a post last year titled Come On In-I’ll Put Coffee On. I shared photos of my apartment and workspace and just made it an informal chat. I may join you in this #CatchUpOverCoffee at my blog. It’s nice to share a personal post once in a while. I often share personal stories but not casual “guess what I did on the weekend” type of post.

    Congrats on your new home!

  14. Congrats on the move to your own house. It must be a great feeling, all that unpacking and settling down notwithstanding. I love chit-chatty posts. My posts are generally introspective and personal, hardly the content-rich, so I’d love to share and also look forward to reading more about you.

I like the initiative – it makes sense to ‘separate it virtually’. While I do like your reviews, I do miss your personal posts πŸ™‚

  19. Moving is tiring isn’t it? Having just moved last weekend to another place just outside of Sydney, I’m still in the unpacking mode. I totally get what you mean about needing to prioritise things. Congratulations on the house! It’s very exciting πŸ™‚
This new series is great…is it just any kind of chatty post? I used to think about Coffee Cup Conversations when I had my previous blog title – Over Cups of Coffee πŸ˜€ Seemed to fit well then .
