It is said that the love of our family is life’s greatest blessing. But, have we ever thought about how we treat this blessing on a daily basis?
This poem is so very true, not just with respect to our kids, but also our significant others, and family in general. Of-course it is never our intention to hurt them, and that is how we justify our behavior in our minds. After all, we always judge others by their actions, and ourselves by our intentions.
It is about time, that we let the love that we feel in our hearts to reflect in our words and actions. If we die tomorrow, our day to day acquaintances may share a Facebook post in our memory, the company that we are working for might replace us in a few days; and our social circle might mourn us for a few weeks. But the family that we leave behind, will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into our work than into cherishing our own families. It is an unfair bias, and an unwise investment. Don’t you think?
So let’s think of what could we do today to let our loved ones know how much they mean to us. What could we do tomorrow? The next day? Then simply do it. 🙂

beautifully said. Why we take the tone of casualness and harshness towards our family is beyond me? Maybe because we are little too comfortable with them.

Very true Shantala. The poem is well chosen and it aptly potrays our approach towards our family.
I think that the most taken for granted person in our life is our mom and then our siblings. I realised this after marriage..
Shanaya Tales
I agree. Sadly, mothers top the chart. Reminds me to go hug mine now. 🙂

I think we take our family for granted because they are always there for us. I realized the worth of my family when after marriage I moved away from them. Before, I hated going to family functions, but now I make an effort to attend them because I get a chance to meet all my cousins and my extended family. Loved this post on family 🙂
Shanaya Tales
That has exactly been the case with me. I have learnt to value the extended family a lot more post marriage. 🙂

This post touched me! How often do we spill our irritation on our family members. Assuming they are here to love you and you;ll make upto them later. How cordial we are at work and with new people that we meet. Isn’t life meant to be for our loved ones? Then why do we take them so for granted of all the people we see in a day! Thank you for raising this!
