Our Thoughts Have Power #AtoZChallenge 2015 @AprilA2Z

T is for Thoughts | Positive & Inspired Living A to Z’

Do you feel that your thoughts come in response to what is happening around you, and what you observe? I certainly used to feel so. But then I came across a book called The Secret. It introduced (to me) a concept called as Law of Attraction, which stated that we attract what we think.  This would mean that what we observe in our surroundings is actually in response to what we are thinking, and not the other way round.

For example, if we are  thinking about buying a certain type of car, we will start seeing this car almost everywhere we go. In the same way, if we are  thinking about having a baby, we’ll notice pregnant women and babies around us a lot more. Are these coincidences or projections of our own thoughts?

The examples that I gave above are pretty basic. Nonetheless, if the law of attraction is indeed at work, then the physical reality in which we live is like a mirror designed to become the exact reflection of the thoughts that we have. When we think of it like this, we have more power than we could possibly imagine. By controlling our thoughts, we can control our reality.

Personally, I do believe in the Law of Attraction. That doesn’t mean that I have mastered it in any way, shape, or form. I haven’t  ever consciously tried to attract positive things by thinking about it. Although when I am overcome with anxiety and worry about something, reminding myself about the law of attraction, scares me enough to make me look at the possible positive outcomes. Yes, I realize this is not the ideal application of the law, but this does help me keep negative thoughts at bay.

I would love to hear from you. Do you believe in the Law of Attraction? Has it worked for you? Or do you use it to ward off negative thoughts like me?

Lots of Love

  1. I agree 1000%. If you think it, you conceive it. And you will achieve it. Very powerful stuff!

  2. Law of attraction definitely worked for me! You visualize something long enough and you will attract it. That is how I met my wife. 😛 😉 😀

  3. Shantala, yes I have seen that power of attraction at work many times. I’ve seen it as an answer to pray. I knew I had to get to a writers’ conference in the States so started to pray about it. I’ve been to two! 🙂 BTW, how do you get my posts listed at the bottom of your comments? I really appreciate this, but wondered how to encourage others to do this.

  4. If you think, you will achieve it. Yes. But only if you put in your effort to achieve it. Just thinking will not help.

The universe is giving you hints to work hard 🙂

  5. Lovely post Shanaya! I use my thoughts to manipulate my life – both for attracting positive and keeping negative at bay. The best way that I have discovered for attracting positive energy is praying. By praying, I don’t mean uttering shlokas – but talking to the divine.

  6. Yes I do believe in the law, though debatable, but I think I quite agree with you. I always strive to think positive at all times!

  7. I believe in the law of attraction. Like you, I came across the concept through The Secret. I still have a long way to go before I master it though. I’m, however, trying 🙂

  8. Yes, I agree 100%. I had a Professor who used to tell me to mediate for half an hour visualizing something you want, and when you visualize something as if it’s happening then for sure you’re going to achieve it. 🙂

  9. I agree with all of this. Fabulous post, as always!

  10. Oh yes, the law of attraction definitely works. But like you, I practice it when I cant take the stress or anxiety any more! I am pushing myself to be more proactive in usage of this law… hopefully I will get there soon! 🙂

  11. I believe in the law of attraction. Though i haven’t mastered it yet. Though I have seen how people drop away and those who are more vibrationally aligned show up in my life.

  12. Good stuff Shantala! I have the book The Secret and I do believe in the power of attraction. I could not finish the book cos it was too much of self help but to be honest I believe in optimism and dreams. That leads me to the law of attraction. Personally, I feel dreams (even vague ones) come true. All that you need is to believe that if you want something, you will get it sooner or later. Staying positive will give you the patience and dreaming will keep you motivated 🙂
Gosh! Sorry for that long comment!

  14. I’ve never really heard of that but I know that is true what you said about cars and pregnant women. It’s an interesting idea and worth testing.

  15. Yes, I do believe in the law of attraction. 🙂 However, like you, I often don’t use it to its full capacity, i.e., benefit. 😉 I am often reminded when I am in the negative swing of things, to change my thinking in order to change the outcome. Though I’ve had some wonderful positive experiences as a result of the LOA as well! 😉 <3

  16. Interesting concept. I could relate the pregnant women thing because that’s what would happen when we were expecting Baby Girl. 😉 Using the Law of Attraction to repel negative thoughts does sound like a good idea. I haven’t really used this law before but it is definitely worth a shot 🙂

  17. Have read The Secret. It’s a good book. The Law of Attraction does work, but it’s difficult to get the technique perfect. Usually, conflicting thoughts are there, which don’t let intentions manifest the way we want.

  18. Interestingly, although I have never read the Secret, people who know me both online and offline seem to think I channelise the principle of the book 🙂 If that’s true, I am truly happy. I do think I try to wake up and go to bed with positive affirmations everyday.
