Have you noticed that when we have a strong reason for doing something, we figure out how to get it done. The HOW’s can be figured out as long as the WHY is in place.
But many a times we focus more on the HOW’s – How do I do this? How can I do that? How many steps are involved? How many days will this take? While these questions are relevant, they are of secondary importance. The primary question that we need to ask ourselves is WHY do we want to do it?
This is especially important for the things that have a significant impact on our lives, like the decisions regarding our field of education, choice of career etc. If we do not have a strong reason for the above decisions, we will end up with a lot of self-doubt and frustration as we navigate through the daunting number of ‘hows’ that will inevitably come along with these decisions. A strong reason will keep us focused on the end result. It will also give us the resilience to stay the course when the going gets tough.
I believe that the same goes for being successful at anything in life. If we don’t have a reason to succeed, we will always find a reason to give up. Don’t you think?

You make an excellent point. We need a compelling reason otherwise it won’t happen.

The Why is an excellent point. It’s “true north” as one writer says… Martha Beckman I think! Finding your why helps you know “how” to get there, even if the how isn’t immediately apparent.

I have to agree. It’s been my experience that if you know the reason (the why) of your problem, you are better equipped to succeed. Knowing your true objective lets you recognize alternate solutions; essentially you can dodge obstacles (vs conquering them).

Loved the quote Shantala 🙂 Yes, it is true that if we really want to do something is life, then we will work around the obstacles instead of finding excuses. I experienced this recently 🙂 When we have a reason to do something, we will do it no matter how difficult!

absolutely RIGHT ! agree with you, thanks for motivating.. .. I have been finding excuses to visit a homoeopath for the last one month, I have taken all the information required to visit, even the directions… now as you say if I want to, I will make it happen…. sometimes its priorities, and if it is health and not an emergency, then this visit will takes a back seat. I am looking at the impact and deciding hopefully that this week I will definitely find time and desire to visit.

Oh yes I so agree!
If you find a reason to give up, then you shouldn’t have started in the first place.
This takes me back to your previous post. If you start, do not quit. If you are keen to find reasons not to do something, then you have already quit before starting.

This is so true, when selecting my degree course I didn’t think why I wanted to do engineering, instead I just followed the herd and concentrated on how to pass the course and get a job. If I could turn time I would have selected psychology because that’s where my interest lies. Sigh!
