If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you know that, as a rule I don’t do cover reveals on here. But today I am making an exception – for Damyanti’s debut crime novel, You Beneath Your Skin to be published this September by Simon & Schuster, India – and there is a very good reason for that.
I’ve known Damyanti through her blog for a long time now, and outside of being a pretty talented word-smith, I’ve known her to be a kind, compassionate & giving individual, who cares deeply about and champions various social justice causes. Which is why I believe she is now donating the proceeds from her debut release to non-profit organizations she supports like Chhanv Foundation and Project WHY.
And how could I not support a cause as noble as that, and an author / person as generous and giving as Damyanti? It’s the reason why I am now making an exception and hosting my very first cover reveal on the blog.
And it’s the reason why I am going to read this book after the release, even though it’s a genre well outside of my usual comfort zone. Because I figure, when I am making exceptions, why stop at the cover reveal? 🙂
Anyway, so now without further ado, here’s the cover of YOU BENEATH YOUR SKIN.. *cue the drumroll*

I don’t know about you, but I personally LOVE this cover! So perfect for a mystery / thriller crime novel!
The red and black immediately captures nuances of an atmospheric crime story, and the face visible under the title makes me wonder who she is, and what her story might be.
Oh and you’ve to read the blurb – it’s the perfect complement to this cover, and makes me curious to read the book.
You Beneath Your Skin – Blurb
Lies. Ambition. Family.
It’s a dark, smog-choked New Delhi winter. Indian American single mother Anjali Morgan juggles her job as a psychiatrist with caring for her autistic teenage son. She is in a long-standing affair with ambitious Police Commissioner Jatin Bhatt – an irresistible attraction that could destroy both their lives.
Jatin’s home life is falling apart: his handsome and charming son is not all he appears to be, and his wife has too much on her plate to pay attention to either husband or son. But Jatin refuses to listen to anyone, not even the sister to whom he is deeply attached.
Across the city there is a crime spree: slum women found stuffed in trash bags, faces and bodies disfigured by acid. And as events spiral out of control Anjali is horrifyingly at the centre of it all.
In a sordid world of poverty, misogyny, and political corruption, Jatin must make some hard choices. But what he unearths is only the tip of the iceberg. Together with Anjali he must confront old wounds and uncover long-held secrets before it is too late.

I loved the cover too. They’ve got it right. It conveys exactly what it holds inside – a little bit of intrigue and lots of thrill.
